Young BP Fellows FAQs

Young BP Fellows are dynamic young philanthropists who believe in the power of Scouting to transform lives. Guided by feedback and thoughtful input from BP Fellows and Young BP Fellows, we’re excited to introduce a few updates designed to make the offering for Young BP Fellows even more sustainable — while keeping its spirit and opportunities just as you know them.

What are the main changes in the new YBPF recognition model?
The new model streamlines the recognition process and updates the sequence and format of how Young BP Fellows are acknowledged at events.

  • Young BP Fellows may join before the age of 35 years with a pledge of USD 1000;
  • At age 36 years a Young BP Fellow may choose to pledge an additional USD 9000 (paid in up to 10 years) and become a BP Fellow or withdraw from the Fellowship;
  • Collective recognition: Together with all Young BP Fellows, being recognised. Each Young BP Fellow will receive a unique Young BP Fellowship Pin and certificate presented by the Chair and CEO.

When do I have to pay my USD 1000 pledge?
Young BP Fellows are encouraged to pay their USD pledge within 5 years (ca. USD 16 per month) or by the time they turn 35 years at the latest. Accommodations to this pledge schedule can be made on an individual basis.

Who is eligible for recognition under the new model?
All Young BP Fellows (existing and new) will be recognised according to the new model from 26 October 2025.

If I signed up under the old model but haven’t received recognition yet, what happens?
The recognition changes are in effect as of 26 October 2025. That means that all Young BP Fellows (existing and new) will be recognised according to the new model.

What does the new recognition presentation entail?
The presentation is a collective stage recognition, with the reading of names and countries and the presentation of the unique Young BP Fellowship pin and certificate by the CEO and Chair.

Will Young BP Fellows still receive a certificate and pin?
Yes, both the certificate and pin will continue to be presented as symbols of recognition. We are launching a unique new Young BP Fellowship pin and certificate exclusive to the Young BP Fellowship.

Is there an individual element to the recognition, or is it all done collectively?
While the main recognition is now collective, each Young BP Fellow will have their name and country acknowledged as they come forward.

How will the new model affect Young BP Fellows attending future events?
All future recognitions will follow the new collective format, designed to enhance inclusivity and event flow.

Do these changes affect existing Baden-Powell Fellows or only Young BP Fellows?
The changes specifically relate to recognition of Young BP Fellows; recognition for other categories will continue as per existing procedures

What happens with existing Young BP Fellows?
All current Young BP Fellows will transition to the updated model as follows:

  • Each Young BP Fellow will have their previous contributions and status formally acknowledged.
  • Young BP Fellows will be informed about the new age requirements, payment structure, collective recognition, and standardised offboarding.
  • Young BP Fellows, who are under the age of 35 years, and who received their pin from HM the King of Sweden under the old model, may:
  • Keep their Gold BP Fellowship pin and certificate
  • Choose to swap their Gold BP Fellowship pin for the new unique Young BP Fellowship pin.

IF, at a later stage,a Young BP Fellow pledges to become a full BP Fellow, they will then receive a gold BPF pin.

What about the Young BP Fellowship programme at the annual BP Fellowship event?
The Young BP Fellows programme will remain available at a reduced rate, including accommodation and participation in a service project will remain available for all Young BP Fellows and BP Fellows who are between 18 and 35 years old during the event.
